About This Quote

In the book of Job, Job asks God a few questions. The first one is a simple one: “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?” God responds by saying that he created the world and that he was there at its very beginning. Job was not satisfied with that answer, though. His next question is more complex: “Who determined its measurements? Surely you know!” God replies with an even more complicated explanation, which again only served to confuse Job further.

In this section, God also speaks through a burning bush in a very poetic manner—but Job was not satisfied with it either. In the end, when Job asks God a final question, God comes down from his throne and shows him the face of Satan in the air right in front of him. This is when Job finally sees that God is real and that he has been wrong about everything he thought he knew about Him.
